A roadside bomb hit a US patrol in Baghdad, killing two American soldiers and wounding another, the US command said Thursday.

The blast went off Wednesday evening as the soldiers, members of the 1st Armored Division, were driving through a western neighborhood of the capital, the military said in a statement.

The names of the soldiers were being withheld pending notification of their families.

The deaths bring to 374 the number of Americans who have been killed in hostile action since the beginning of military operations in Iraq. A total of at least 537 Americans have died, including non-combat deaths.
