Operations begin for good looks SHENZHEN'S first man-made beauty candidate received her first operation at the Shenzhen Sun Hospital on Friday, Chinese-language newspapers reported. The operation, reported to be successful, was performed on the eyelids and nose of Zhang Wei. It was designed to create double-edged eyelids and a straight nose. Zhang, a secretary, faced the media in makeup wearing sunglasses after the one-hour operation. She refused to allow photographers to take side photos of her, saying her eyes and nose were swollen. She would not even dare to smile for fear of pain. Zhang told the media that she did not worry much before the operation since the hospital had worked out very detailed schemes. She did not feel pain during the operation. Zhang will go home for the Spring Festival and continue with surgery in February. Doctor Zhou, one of the surgeons, said the swelling on Zhang's eyes and nose would go down in three days, during which she could continue to work. Zhang was advised not to eat spicy food. She will have to undergo 15 operations on her eyes, nose, temple, chin and breasts, which will be divided into four or five sessions. Zhou said the city's first man-made beauty would emerge in June. Zhang, from Hubei Province who was not satisfied with some aspects of her appearance, became the only finalist selected from 1,089 women who signed up for the surgery. |
