Its products, services and technologies fall into three principal lines of business: Machinery, Engines and Financial Products. Today, Caterpillar has nearly 300 operations in 40 countries. Over half of its sales are outside the United States, solidifying Caterpillar's position as a global supplier and leading US exporter. It also provide rental services through nearly 1,500 outlets worldwide. Caterpillar reported full-year sales and revenues of $41.52 billion and profit per share of $5.17. Sales and revenues rose 14 percent from 2005, and profit per share was up 28 percent. Caterpillar invested $1.35 billion in research and development in 2006. |
