China's business confidence index reached 133.7 points in the last quarter of 2003, up 8.1 percentage points over the same period of 2002, a national business climate survey shows.
Business people expressed confidence and optimism about the national economy, especially entrepreneurs from foreign-funded enterprises, according to a report released Wednesday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Compared with the same period of 2002, the index for businesses in manufacturing, construction, transportation and warehousing, wholesale and retailing, communications and IT, hotel and catering, saw a rise of over 5 percentage points.
Due to the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), business confidence fluctuated in 2003, the report said.
The index was 132.5, 115.4, and 129.6 in the previous three quarters of 2003.
