SOE recruits vice-president from Hong Kong

Huang Bilie, financial director of Hongkong Wide Code Investments (Group) Ltd, became vice-president of China National Trade Transportation Corp by defeating 43 contenders for the position.
The State-Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) announced Wednesday the result of the open recruitment initiated in September, in which seven senior management positions were offered by six major state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Huang succeeded in the only post that was not restricted to Chinese nationals.
SASAC director Li Rongrong described the recruitment as a key breakthrough in the reform of China's SOE personnel system. He pledged to recruit more senior managers for major SOEs through open invitation in 2004.
Lu Youqing, a local official from southwest China's Sichuan province, became vice-president of the China Aluminum Corp Ltd after defeating 92 contenders.
The most senior position, vice-president of China General Technology (Group) Holding Ltd, was competed for by 121 people and finally went to Han Benyi, vice-president of a cable broadcasting network company in west China's Shaanxi province.
Posts of vice-president A and vice-president B of China United Telecommunication Corporation went to Yang Xiaowei and Li Zhengmao, both vice-presidents of the corporation's local branches, with Yang from Guangdong branch and Li from Yunnan branch.
Zhang Hua, vice-president of China Shipbuilding Industry Finance Company Ltd, became chief accountant of the State Development & Investment Corp.
Yang Jiayi, vice-president of Beijing International Power Development & Investment Corporation, become chief accountant of the China Energy Conservation Investment Corp.
Six of the seven winners, aged from 37 to 45, have masters or doctorate degree.
