An explosion at an oil refinery workshop in north China's Hebei province on Wednesday killed three workers and injured three others.

The accident happened at 10:12 p.m. Wednesday in an evaporator workshop of the Oil Refinery of Cangzhou city, according to a source with the local public security department.

A fire caused by the blast was put out immediately and those injured have been hospitalized.

The accident was possibly caused by wrong operation, said the source. Further investigation is under way.
