Foreign trade soaring in northwest China's Xinjiang

Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region did 3.04 billion US dollars worth of foreign trade in the first three quarters of the year, up 72.6 percent from the same period last year.
Sources from Urumqi Customs said it is the first time for Xinjiang to surpass three billion US dollars in foreign trade and the region also fulfilled the pre-set foreign trade target for this year three months ahead.
Imports made up 1.67 billion US dollars, up 71.2 percent, and exports were 1.37 billion US dollars, up 74.2 percent.
Xinjiang exported large quantities of commodities such as garments, footwear, machinery and electronic products, textiles, cotton and canned tomato ketchup and imported items for production use such as copper and steel products, as well as copper ore.
