British police said they arrested two men Wednesday on suspicion of murdering a young sky diver who died in July after plummeting 13,000 feet because cords on his parachute had been deliberately cut.

Horrified spectators at an airshow in northern England saw Stephen Hilder, 20, plunge to earth when both his main and reserve parachutes failed to open.

Hilder, who had more than 200 jumps under his belt, died instantly at Hilbaldstow Airfield in Lincolnshire from multiple injuries. From early on in the investigation police said they believed Hilder's parachute had been deliberately targeted, possibly by fellow sky divers.

The two arrested men are in their 20s and are being questioned at separate police stations.
