China's first aviation club set for Guangdong
( 2003-07-29 10:13) (Xinhua)

China's first aviation club is to be established in Huizhou city, south China's Guangdong Province.

Covering 400 mu (26.7 hectares), the club will be equipped with light aircraft, helicopters, powered gliders, airships and other flying facilities. It also has airspace, and ground service facilities like hangars and navigation systems in nearby Shenzhen.

Club members will enjoy the fun of flying and be able to acquire a pilot license by passing examinations.

General manager Ding Lujun said the club mainly was aimed at aviation lovers in Shenzhen, where the number of privately owned aircraft had reached 20, and Hong Kong, where more than 100 people had pilot licenses. Potential club members also included foreign pilot license holders, based in the region.

The membership fee would be set at between 300,000 yuan (36,145 US dollars) to 500,000 yuan (US$60,240) and the charge for each flying hour would be around 3,000 yuan (361 US dollars).

Maintenance, parking and other services would also be provided for club members.
