China's state-owned assets up 8.2 percent in 2002

The total volume of China's state-owned assets topped 11 trillion yuan (US$1.33 trillion) in 2002, an increase of 8.2 percent over the previous year.

Statistics from the Ministry of Finance showed that by the end of 2002, the commercial sector claimed 7.69 trillion yuan (US$926.5 billion), a rise of 5.2 percent or 65 percent of the total.

Non-profitable assets increased by 14.4 percent over 2001 and accounted for 35 percent of the total.
