Heinze staying put - Paris St German ( 2004-01-16 10:53) (sportinglife.com)
Paris St Germain are holding firm on their desire to keep defender Gabriel Heinze at the club, with coach Vahid Halilhodzic joining president Francis Graille in insisting the Argentine is not for sale. Heinze, whose contract expires in the summer, has been linked with a move to big spending Chelsea in recent weeks but Halilhodzic is adamant the player won't leave Paris without his full consent. "I am the only one who decides here, and I have not been personally contacted by Chelsea," said the Bosnian. "They want to buy everyone anyway. So if (Chelsea owner Roman) Abramovich is really interested in Heinze then we will give him answers when the time comes. But it will be me who decides, that is for sure." Graille is also well aware the London side are tracking the player, but insists there will be no transfer during the current transfer window. "It is true that Chelsea are interested in Heinze, they have been following him for a long time," said Graille. "But he will not leave this winter." Indeed, despite PSG's financial problems, Halilhodzic is aiming to bolster his squad with loan signings rather than reduce it. "The transfer market is not over and we are going to try to get two more players on loan," he added. "But we don't have any money to buy new players. I'd like to be able to recruit like Chelsea do. They are the only club in the world who has no economical problems at all. They can buy whoever they want."
