highest-paid player in the Major League Soccer by making US$500,000 for
the upcoming season, according to Soccer America magazine.
The 14-year-old Adu will be the No.1 overall pick by the D.C. United in the
league draft.
Adu's base salary will be US$300,000 , and he'll earn the rest in bonuses,
incentives and endorsement.
Josh Wolff of the Kansas City Wizards is going to be the nighest salaried
player with US$350,000.
"Freddy is a special player, there's no doubt about that," United coach Peter
Nowak said. "If he deserves to be on the field, then he will be on the field."
"Because of Freddy's age, we're going to check, we're going to evaluate, and
we're going to protect him for sure," Nowak said.
