Former Chinese striker Yu Genwei had a successful surgery on his injured knee in on Tuesday.

The surgery lasted one hour and 15 minutes in Uruguay's "best" and "biggest" hospital and was made by a very experienced surgeon,reports said.

Reports quoted the doctor as saying that Yu, who plays for Chinese first division side Tianjin, can be fit again in three weeks.

This is the second time Yu had a knee surgery in Uruguay. The first one was in 1998.
