China to improve work in fever clinics against SARS ( 2003-12-23 20:21) (Xinhua)
The Chinese Ministry of Health Tuesday notified localities around the country
to improve the work of their fever clinics in case of a possible recurrence of
severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).
The ministry has required local health administrations to improve
layouts of fever clinics and offer specific diagnosis for patients with a
temperature.
The ministry also urged the clinics to transfer patients with fever to
better equipped hospitals, especially in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hebei,
Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Beijing and Tianjin, areas heavily hit by SARS earlier
this year.
Any unit or person who violated relevant regulations on epidemic
reporting and patient diagnosis would be punished according to law, the
ministry said in a circular to all localities.
