Efforts for a clean metro network ( 2003-12-18 17:12) (China Daily)
Shanghai's transportation and public security authorities have carried out a
15-day inspection of beggars and leaflets distributors across the city's metro
networks, Youth Daily reports.
This is the largest ever security inspection in the city's metros and aims to
bring the environment along the metro stations into order.
Too many beggars and advertisement distributors in the city's metros have
been a big problem for a long time, which brings much discomfort to passengers
and often causes disorder at metro stations.
In November, local metro security staff had stopped more than 4,000 people
who were asking for mercy, selling newspaper or giving out leaflets and
advertisements on trains at metro stations.
