Teacher joins students' gang fight with 5 hurt ( 2003-12-17 17:19) (China Daily)
A teacher of Yangchang Township Middle School in Southwest China's Yunnan
Province joined in a students' gang fight on Friday, which led to five injuries,
Yanzhao Metropolis Daily reports.
The fight resulted from a tug-of-war competition which was held in the
school's Winter Sports Meet last month, in which Class 60 won the contest over
Class 61.
The latter claimed their rivals cheated in the contest since Class 60 had two
more students joining in the competition. The unsatisfying result irritated the
students of Class 61 and sparked the fight, which was cracked down on by school
officials.
The unfair contest stirred a second gang fight between the two classes on
Friday, in which the teacher of class 61 surnamed Sun, with a kitchen knife in
his hand, threw himself into the thick of the fray.
As the parents of an injured student filed complaints to the teacher, he took
his forelock and attempted to beat them. Sun was stopped by the police who came
in time and has been taken into custody for further
investigation.
