Food without QS banned from shelves ( 2003-12-17 17:16) (China Daily) Shanghai will forbid sales of
rice, noodles, vegetable oil, soy sauce and vinegar without a Quality Safety
(QS) certificate, Jiefang Daily reports.
Local quality inspection officials reminded local residents not to buy the
five kinds of food products that have no QS labels on their packages.
The city initiated the QS certification system for major food commodities
since the beginning of this year and as the end of November there were still 44
relevant producers that have got no QS certificate for their products.
Most of the them are small companies which have no capability of meeting the
QS requirements.
