Companies vying for name of 'Wujian Dao' ( 2003-12-17 17:14) (China Daily) Movie goers have been flocking
to see "Infernal Affairs", which has become increasingly popular in Asian
countries. Now enterprises are competing to register the name of the film, which
is pronounced as "Wujian Dao" in Chinese language, as the trademark of their
products, Beijing Star Daily reports.
Trademark agent Li of Beijing Zhongke Zhicheng Intellectual Property Agency
said that she had received numerous calls from many companies which inquired
about the registration of the trademark "Wujian Dao". "The trademark has been
registered by an apparel company in South China's Guangdong Province," she said.
It is not the first time that businesses have competed to apply for registering
the names of film and TV products, Li said. Some companies even use the English
name of the film or TV products to develop in the international market,
according to Li.
