Oscar-winning US actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin have got married, Santa Barbara County officials in California confirmed Wednesday.

The wedding was held after Paltrow announced last week that she was expecting their first child next summer.

County officials confirmed that the couple applied for a license last Friday, and that appears to be the date they tied the knot, in short, secret ceremony.

Publicist Stephen Huvane said his clients refuse to confirm or deny the report.

The Oscar-winning star of "Shakespeare in Love," 31, has been dating Martin, 26, frontman for the British band Coldplay, for the past year. Both have been reticent about publicly discussing their relationship.

Paltrow, which stars as poet Sylvia Plath in the new film " Sylvia," was born in Los Angles on Sept. 27, 1972. Her father, producer-director Bruce Paltrow, died last year while celebrating Gwyneth's 30th birthday with her in Italy.
