Girl applies to be 'plastic beauty' ( 2003-12-09 09:35) (Shenzhen Daily)
A pretty young woman from Qingdao, Shandong Province, wants to be the first ¡°plastic beauty¡± of Guangzhou encouraged by China¡¯s first plastic surgery beauty, Hao Lulu, in Beijing. The girl, surnamed Guan, 24, told the Guangzhou-based Information Times she would act as a spokeswoman for any institute willing to offer her free plastic surgery. Guan, who already had surgery to transform her nose in February, wants to further transform her cheeks, legs and skin. She said she was also willing to receive a painful operation that would help her grow taller by having a bone extension in her legs. Migrating to Guangzhou five years ago, Guan works in a beauty parlor. She made her decision after reading that two other girls from Chengdu in Sichuan Province and Northeast China had their appearances changed following the successful operations on Hao Lulu. Like Hao, she said she was seeking to achieve a state of beauty, a state of perfection. ¡°I would be happy if I could make a movie or publish a book like Hao,¡± the girl said. But experts warn of the dangers involved in plastic surgery. There could be nearly 10 complications involved in a simple ¡°double eyelid¡± surgery, the most serious of which could lead to blindness. One of the 15 complications that could happen with liposuction (removing excess fat) could be deadly if lipocytes enter the bloodstream.
