Kids' kidnap claim to play PC games ( 2003-12-04 16:58) (China Daily)
In a bid to cut classes to play computer games at an Internet bar, two
middle-school students lied that they had been kidnapped, leading to a 26-hour
search involving 100 police officers, reports Beijing Morning Post.
Last Friday, in order to play computer games at an Internet bar undisturbed,
the two students asked a classmate to tell the teacher they had been kidnapped.
The teacher contacted police immediately.
As more than 100 officers looked for the students, police thought it was very
strange that the kidnappers had not contacted the students' families demanding
ransom.
Twenty-six hours later, they found the two students at an Internet bar,
seemingly indifferent to the trouble they had caused.
