Learner drivers will pay by hour ( 2003-12-03 17:17) (China Daily) Shanghai will apply the
internationally accepted practice of paying by the hour to the city's driver
training industry, which currently generates a yearly income of 700 million yuan
(US$84.57 million), Shanghai Evening Post reports.
After the city implements the "smart card" IC payment system in a year's
time, trainees will be able to pay on a per-course basis.
There are now 125 driving schools and 7,134 teaching vehicles in Shanghai.
A total of 177,000 drivers in the city have received training through this
