Starred hotels drop rates to woo guests ( 2003-12-03 17:17) (China Daily)
Starred hotels in Shanghai have been reducing their rates by 40-70 per cent
as the New Year holiday draws near, Shanghai Evening Post reports.
Most of the top-rated hotels have been offering preferential rates since the
beginning of December, a bold move to woo more guests.
The Okura Garden Hotel, a five-star hotel, is advertising favourable rates
from December 20 until February 29, 2004, including a standard room charge, with
breakfast, of just US$105, excluding service charges.
The Renaissance Yangtze Shanghai Hotel is also cutting its rates by more than
a half from December 20 through January 4 and again from January 17 to February
1.
