Sichuan University established a new department this year - the Game Software Department - making it the first institution of higher learning in China to provide professional training courses on computer-game research and development, reports Xinhua News Agency.

Subjects offered at the newly established department include art, literature, foreign languages and software, as computer games, according to teaching staff, are closely related to drama, music, painting, three-dimensional design, programme editing and software development.

All of the teaching materials will be introduced from overseas.
