South China resumes anti-SARS measures ( 2003-12-02 16:38) (China Daily)
Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region yesterday resumed temperature taking, a pre
- checkup counter and fever outpatient service in all medical institutions in a
bid to prevent a possible comeback of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).
An official from the regional health bureau said they had released a set of
standards concerning clinical diagnosis and treatment of SARS and urged all
medical institutions to be well prepared for SARS diagnosis and treatment.
The bureau also said in a special circular that all village clinics should
report patients with fever, or patients with other symptoms of SARS and those
who have close contact with them, to township hospitals, and privately-run
township clinics are not allowed to treat patients with fever and should relay
them to be treated at nearby hospitals.
