Same man buys 1st gold bar again ( 2003-12-02 16:29) (China Daily) A middle-aged Beijing man has
once again become the first person to buy the special gold bars issued each year
to commemorate the upcoming Lunar New Year, reports Beijing Times.
Wang was the first buyer last year when China started issuing the gold bars
bearing carvings of the animals that represent the 12 Earthly Branches. The
sheep decorated the 2003 bars, while the monkey is featured on the 2004 bars.
On Saturday, Beijing's Caishikou Department Store sold out of the 83-kilogram
gold bars with unit weights ranging from 50 to 200 grams. Customers usually
purchase the gold bars to give as gifts to relatives and friends or for
collection.
