A sex education base is being planned for a seaside resort in Maoming City in western Guangdong, at an estimated cost of 70 million yuan (US$8.4m).

Construction is expected to begin next year, said Zhu Jiaming, deputy director of Guangdong's sex research institute.

The base will provide sex health education as well as holiday facilities. An 8,000sqm exhibition center will present scientific knowledge about sex, sex utensils and sex health care products from various cultures.

As well as exhibition halls, the base will establish a clinic with a psychological consultation department. A four-star hotel will be built nearby along with entertainment, catering and shopping facilities.

Meanwhile, the institution is pushing another "sex culture corridor" project in Shiwan, Foshan City.
