Chinese kids jailed for robbing 20 US cents ( 2003-12-01 14:37) (Xinhua) Four youngsters have been
sentenced to prison terms, ranging from one year to two years, for robbing 1.8
yuan (about 22 cents), a local court in east China ruled recently.
According to the People's Court of Qingyunpu District of Nanchang, the
capital of Jiangxi province, the four youngsters, whose names were not disclosed
because they were all juvenile delinquents below 18, robbed another young man on
July 17.
They beat the victim black and blue in Jingshanqiao area in the suburb, but
found only a tiny amount of money.
Police rushed to the scene and captured the four men.
According to the court verdict given recently, one of the four trouble
makers, surnamed Li, was sentenced to two years in prison. Another was given one
year and three months, and the remaining two each got one year terms.
