Working women outnumber employed men ( 2003-11-25 17:21) (China Daily) More women than men are
employed in Qingdao, Shandong Province, for the first time in the city's
history, reports People's Daily.
Sources with the Qingdao Statistics Bureau revealed that 1.06 million people
had jobs in Qingdao last year, 50.4 per cent of them women.
Meanwhile, job opportunities for women have also improved, as 49.7 per cent
were working in education or culture units and 23.5 per cent were employed by
State-owned businesses, up 1 percentage point and 2.2 percentage points,
respectively, over the previous year.
