Top 50 estate developers named
( 2003-11-24 10:27) (Shenzhen Daily)

The 5th Shenzhen China International Housing Architecture Fair 2003 (CIHAF), which opened Saturday, selected the year's top 50 Chinese developers at a ceremony Sunday evening.

Portofino, a housing community developed by Shenzhen OCT Real Estate Co. Ltd., was first among the top 50 housing estates. Five Shenzhen developers were listed among the top 50 developers, including China Merchants, OCT, Excellence and Vanke.

Approved by the Science and Technology Ministry of China and sponsored by several top authorized institutions and organizations in the real estate industry, CIHAF has become a gala for the trade since it was first staged in 1999.

Dubbed the ¡°Olympics of the Chinese housing architecture industry,¡± this annual fair serves as a platform to feature the top housing architecture of the country as well as the exchange between the developers.

Because of its specialization, the fair sells tickets but does not encourage non-industry visitors, said the organizers.

Organizers said that because of the SARS outbreak, the exhibition area this year was 30,000 sqm, 5,000 sqm less than last year.

However, more than 5,000 developers had registered.

The exhibition area features city planning, housing models, building materials, home decoration, real estate marketing and architectural designs.

According to the organizers, 17 cities used chartered flights to send delegates to the fair.

The Zhengzhou delegation came in three chartered flights. Tianjin and Wuxi even organized special promotion activities to refresh their images and court investment.

¡°Tianjin Day¡± has become a much repeated phrase by the media during the fair which ends Tuesday.

The fair also features a series of seminars, including a CIHAF CEO Day and a Mayors¡¯ Forum.
