Medical agent serves as go-between ( 2003-11-19 16:47) (China Daily) A new job title, that of
"medical treatment agent", has emerged in Nanjing, capital of East China's
Jiangsu Province, reports Yangtze Evening News.
A medical treatment agent is engaged in helping people in need of medical
services find a professional or senior doctor whose specialty corresponds to his
or her ailment and make an appointment for the two parties.
Agents will charge 50 yuan (US$6) per visit for their services.
And if a client wants a doctor to make a house call, the charge increases to
between 200 and 300 yuan (US$24-36).
The position has resulted from the poor service available at hospitals and
growing demands on professional and senior doctors.
