Typhoon at hotspot delays travellers ( 2003-11-19 16:47) (China Daily)
Due to the powerful typhoon that hit Hainan and the Qiongzhou Strait
yesterday, travellers to or waiting to leave the tourist resort have had to
delay their journeys, reports Beijing Youth Daily.
The typhoon may cause seven- to 10-gale force winds, accompanied by a sharp
drop in temperature.
Meteorological experts say it is rare for Hainan to experience a typhoon in
mid-November.
Typhoons generally only make landfall at the coastal resort from July through
October.
