Spring bubbles up to 28.15 metres ( 2003-11-19 16:47) (China Daily)
The water level of Baotu Spring, one of the country's most famous springs, in
Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong Province, rose to 28.15 metres this
week, the highest it's been since the mid-1960s, reports Xinhua News Agency.
Experts say the high level is due to abundant precipitation this year, as
well as to the government's decision to close more than 700 wells neighbouring
Baotu Spring.
According to records, the highest water level at Baotu Spring was 33.92
metres, which occurred in 1964.
