Mental counselling free to medical staff ( 2003-11-19 16:39) (China Daily)
Beijing's doctors and nurses may now receive psychological counselling and
treatment services free of charge, in a move to help alleviate the pressures on
medical workers following the battle against SARS, reports Beijing Times.
According to a survey conducted by the Psychological Health Research
Institute at Beijing University, around half of the city's doctors and nurses
display symptoms of anxiety, strain, excessive self-doubt and insomnia.
Doctors and nurses can receive the free services at the city's larger
hospitals or professional mental health clinics.
