Beijing launches 100-day citywide campaign to improve traffic
( 2003-11-19 10:28) (Xinhua)

Beijing launched a 100-day citywide campaign on Tuesday to fight against traffic jams in the capital.

Li Jianhua, director of the Division for Administration of Traffic with the Bureau of Public Security, said the campaign would strike hard against violations that endanger safety and hinder the orderly flow of traffic.

Liu Zhihua, vice mayor of Beijing, told reporters that the municipal government had decided to start a separate action to deal with overloaded trucks in the city on Dec. 1.
