Man houses addicts in relocation scam ( 2003-11-13 17:31) (China Daily)
A Beijinger who let drug addicts live in his house in a bid to get a bigger
apartment in his neighbourhood's relocation scheme has received a two-year
suspended prison sentence and been fined 1,000 yuan (US$120), reports
qianlong.com.
Liang, a bus driver, discovered his neighbours Zhang and Tong taking drugs
outside his home several months ago.
He talked with them and persuaded them not to use drugs any more.
However, when Zhang and Tong promised to help him get an additional room in
their residential area's relocation scheme, Liang agreed and turned a blind eye
to their behaviour.
Liang later said he did not think he had done anything illegal and said he
didn't want to pry in Zhang and Tong's affairs.
