Dealer sues singer for car payments ( 2003-11-12 17:26) (China Daily)
Xie Dong, a famous Chinese pop singer, has been accused by a Mercedes-Benz
dealer of failing to make his car payments, reports Xinhua News Agency.
Xie bought a Benz S320 for 1.12 million yuan (US$135,000) on an instalment
plan on March 27, 2002.
He paid 40 per cent of the total, or 448,000 yuan (US$54,100), up front,
agreeing to remit the rest in monthly instalments of 12,860 yuan (US$1,550) for
60 months.
But Xie stopped making payments this April. The dealer is suing the singer,
saying Xie's behaviour has infringed upon the firm's legal
rights.
