Car owner burns motorcycle on road ( 2003-11-11 17:20) (China Daily)
The owner of a BMW car set fire to a motorcycle in the middle of a road after it hit his car in an accident, reports Shenzhen Commercial Daily. The motorcycle hit the car from behind at about 12:53 pm on Friday in the Bao'an District in an attempt to beat a traffic light before it turned red. After the collision, the motorcyclist ran away, leaving his vehicle behind. The angry car owner then set the motorcycle alight. The blaze was later put out by patrolling civil defence guards. As of yesterday, motorcyclists caught driving on roads for which their vehicles are banned will incur a 300-yuan (US$36) fine. Shenzhen's rule to restrict motorcycle traffic went into effect on November 1, but the first nine days of the month were a "grace period", with offenders receiving a leaflet explaining the rule. Some 50,000 leaflets were handed out during the nine-day period.
