Dirty rags fill cheaper quilts
( 2003-11-11 17:18) (China Daily)

Unscrupulous quilt manufacturers are taking advantage of migrant workers now that the weather has turned colder, Shanghai Morning Post reports.

As scraps of rags shipped from Zhejiang Province are much cheaper than the quality raw materials usually used to stuff quilts, some manufacturers use them without even cleaning them first.

The labels on these quilts claim that "excellent products" were used to make them, cheating migrant workers who can usually only afford cheaper goods.

The quilts are not sanitary and can cause skin diseases, according to the Industrial & Commercial Administration Bureau of the Qingpu District.
