Farmer sets fire in cellphone tantrum ( 2003-11-11 17:12) (China Daily) A 29-year-old farmer poured
gasoline over himself and his father and lit a match, all because his father
would not buy him a mobile phone, reports Beijing Times.
Wei Yonggang, of the Fangshan District, has been unemployed since he
graduated from junior high school.
After Wei's father turned down his request for a mobile phone, saying he had
no need for one, Wei quarrelled with him and set them both ablaze.
Wei's father suffered serious burns in the incident. Wei, meanwhile, has been
arraigned at the Fangshan District People's Court on charges of causing
deliberate bodily harm.
