Man fells trees over neighbours' laundry ( 2003-11-07 17:30) (China Daily)
A man in the Hongkou District chopped down three mature palm trees simply
because his neighbours aired their laundry among them and blocked the sunlight
to his house, Jiefang Daily reports.
On Tuesday, the man felled the three trees, which stood at least six metres
high and were all more than 20 years old, complaining that his neighbours'
laundry was always hanging on lines between the trees.
But a regulation stipulates that citizens shall not fell any trees without
the permission of the municipal landscape authorities. Anyone violating the
regulation faces a steep fine.
