PE teacher responsible for boy's injury ( 2003-11-05 16:54) (China Daily)
A PE teacher has been ordered to pay 89,030 yuan (US$10,727) to a student who
suffered a fracture during an extracurricular class, reports Beijing Evening
News.
Chen Wenzhong launched a part-time wushu - Chinese martial arts - training
course for students at his school. Wang Zhang, 15, paid 200 yuan (US$24) to take
part in the course.
This March, Wang suffered a serious fracture while practicing wushu in class.
His family spent about 80,000 yuan (US$9,640) on his medical treatment.
Since Chen had not received approval from the relevant governmental
department to hold the course, it was ruled illegal. The court ordered Chen to
compensate the boy's family.
