Gold Confucian book up for bid ( 2003-11-04 16:56) (China Daily) A handwritten copy of
"Thirteen Classics", a famous collection of Confucian book, is to be auctioned
soon, reports Beijing Times.
The minimum bid has been set at 13 million yuan (US$1.57 million), said the
organizers.
Zhao Zhizhong, a well-known calligrapher, spent 10 years copying the more
than 650,000-word text, 38-volume book in gold leaf.
The book incorporates more than 100 grams of gold.
All of the pages of the book spread out end-to-end would cover more than 1
kilometre, said the newspaper.
