China to train 10,000 certified national logistics specialists ( 2003-11-03 09:48) (Xinhua) China launched training
courses on Saturday for certified national trade logistics specialists.
China plans to train more than 10,000 certified national logistics
specialists in 2004, according to the Logistics Specialists National
Qualification Certification Office.
More than 100 logistics experts and scholars from more than 50 universities
and colleges around the country will be invited to give lectures for the
training courses.
In accordance with "the national qualification standards for logistics
specialists" promulgated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the
country's logistics professionals will be divided in three categories, namely
logistics assistant, logistics specialist and advanced logistics specialist.
Since China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the country's
logistics business is expected to follow international practice as soon as
possible.
Logistics professionals have become popular in the country. It is estimated
that in 2010, China will need 300,000 to 400,000 logistics professionals who are
of junior college level or above. However, currently there are only 5,000
logistics university graduates in China every year.
According to sources with the Logistics Specialists National Qualification
Certification Office, more than 60 national logistics specialist training
centers will be set up in 24 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions
around the country. Unified national examinations for logistics specialist
qualifications will be held four times every year.
