Soccer-PSG suffer 1-0 home defeat by Lens ( 2003-11-03 09:21) (Agencies) Paris-St Germain fell seven
points behind French league leaders Monaco when they were beaten 1-0 at home by
RC Lens on Sunday.
The defeat completes a bad week for the Paris side who were beaten on
penalties by Ligue 2 Gueugnon in the League Cup in midweek.
The decisive goal was struck with venom by Daniel Moreira in the 78th minute,
triggering a frantic last 10 minutes during which Lens could well have scored
again.
Monaco went three points clear on Saturday after they beat bottom side Le
Mans 4-2 and Olympique Marseille finished with nine men after losing 1-0 at
Girondins Bordeaux.
Champions Olympique Lyon thrashed 10-man Nice 5-0 but had three players
carried off after brutal tackles.
Monaco, unbeaten in the league since August 9, have 27 points from 12 games
followed by Lyon and Marseille on 24. Paris-St Germain have 20 and Lens have
moved up six places to sixth, one point behind PSG.
