German ambulances to help battle SARS ( 2003-10-30 12:29) (China Daily)
Guangzhou has spent more than 30 million yuan (US$3.6 million) importing 33
ambulances from Germany to enhance its ability to tackle a potential recurrence
of SARS, reports New Express News.
The ambulances feature a separate ventilation system for the driver's
compartment to minimize the risk of ambulance drivers contracting the virus, as
happened in Guangzhou earlier this year.
Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the ambulances can function as
mini-hospitals, greatly enhancing the city's emergency rescue system, said Yao
Jianming, deputy director of the Municipal Health Bureau
