Someone stole a bag from a businessman but threw it away thinking it contained nothing of value, although a 380,000-yuan (US$45,600) bank draft and the certificates needed to cash it were in the bag, reports Beijing Youth Daily.

An elderly woman in the Fengtai District picked up the bag and handed it in to police after finding the draft inside.

When police tracked down the bag's owner, Zhao, a salesman for a glass factory in Shandong Province, the draft was still valid.

Zhao said that his bag had been stolen at a restaurant. He was in Beijing on business.
