Tennis-Grosjean chucks rackets in the bin, says no to Houston
( 2003-10-30 10:37) (Agencies) Sebastien Grosjean was so
upset at not qualifying for the Masters Cup he threw his rackets in the locker
room dustbin after his Paris Masters loss to Tim Henman on Wednesday.
The French seventh seed won the first set 6-3 but lost concentration after
two line calls he did not agree with in the second set and went down to the
Briton 3-6 6-4 7-5.
Grosjean now has no chance of qualifying directly for the season-ending event
in Houston next month. If the organisers ask him to act as a replacement, they
would be wasting a phone call.
"It's absolutely not in my thoughts," he said when asked if he would be
willing to fly to Texas at the last minute.
"I left all my rackets in the changing room, in the dustbin. I left two
others on the court and I'm planning simply to fly as soon as possible to
Florida on holiday."
David Nalbandian of Argentina pulled out of the Paris event on Wednesday with
a wrist injury. He is favourite to fill the final place in the eight-man Masters
Cup field.
