A policeman was injured when he tried to stop an agitated woman from throwing stones at bystanders on a railway station platform in Shanghai on Saturday afternoon, Jiefang Daily reports.

The rural Sichuan woman was on her way to Zhejiang Province to work when she suddenly snapped at Songjiang Station after some tense days of travelling.

She picked up several fist-sized stones from around the tracks and began throwing them at people on the platform.

The barrage of flying stones kept several station workers from getting close enough to stop her.

Officer Wang Rongqiang eventually rushed forward and caught her, but not without sustaining some injuries.
