Sun Jihai turns over new leaf ( 2003-10-27 15:56) (Chinadaily.com.cn)
After Manchester City¡¯s 1-0 Saturday loss to Chelsea, Sun Jihai dismissed reports by Chinese media on Sunday that rated him as mediocre. Sun thought the reports were not objective concerning remarks about his performances in recent games, said Sina Sports, the most prominent news Website in China. Sun gave these remarks after browsing some match reports on the Internet after returning to Manchester Saturday. "It's a pity that we lost the game away with an apparent advantage in the first half," said Sun. "The problem lay in that we failed to turn the advantage into a goal." As for his own performance, Sun thought the reports were unfair and not objective enough to reflect his progress in the latest game compared to that against Bolton, which City won at 6-2 the week before. "I felt like I have been melted into the team and come to be more relaxed on the pitch," said Sun, referring to a breakthrough he recently felt at the City games. "I am able to show my features in games now instead of doing my job to avoid making any mistakes," Sun added.
